There’s Hope for You
Perhaps you’re tired;
Not getting much sleep,
And I know that you have to work hard
In order to succeed.
At times you can experience lots of stress,
But remember that you’re always blessed.
“Wonderful things come to those who wait,”
and I hope you’d always keep the faith.
“One in a million!” sure that’s you!
And guess what?
I’m happy for you.
Whether you’re feeling down or in sorrow.
There’s lots of hope for you tomorrow.
And if your world is dark,
The sun will shine,
and you’d succeed in a matter of time.
My Love
I’ll never leave my wife
Because she’s so sweet.
She dresses me with her love
From my head to my feet.
I don’t have to worry,
If she’ll cheat!
Because her vow she vowed,
Forever she’ll keep.
From the Graduating Class
Mothers and Fathers,
We do care!
That’s the reason for us being here,
And after this moment is over;
Just relax and let joy take over.
We’re not here because we’ve failed,
But because we all prevailed,
And we’re not here because of fraud,
But because we’ve worked so hard,
And most of all, we won’t fall,
And if we do,
On your names we’d call.
Thanks for coming, one and all.
Enjoy your day in this big hall.
TOUCHED BY GOD
I was heading home that very day
after I left the city and visited the
bay,
Before I knew it
I was being thrown in jail.
Not knowing if I’d ever get bail.
Months Later . . .
The gavel came down and the
verdict was read.
Oh my Lord, I held my head!
Life imprisonment I’m about to
serve,
possibly the death penalty.
That’s so absurd!
Here I am, sentenced to life.
“So, what will happen to my
children or even my wife?”
I’m a disgrace to my race,
and to those who brought me into
the world.
Said many men, women, boys and
girls.
“You should be executed for what you’ve done; People like you shouldn’t be under the sun.”
It hurts my heart to hear those words,
and this, I surely don’t deserve.
Lord knows, I’d cry! I didn’t do the deed, and now I’ve been labeled as the bad seed.
However, so many nights ago just before I fell asleep, I heard voices, which sounded so, so sweet.
It reminded me of myself when I was just a child.
Singing, “Call on him because he is nigh.”
So I called on him numerous nights.
Even though my spirit began to subside.
Meanwhile at home . . .
My wife and children were praying for me asking the Lord to set me free.
Free from bondage to be with them,
and to deliver me from the hands of unrighteous men.
Suddenly, the hour was upon me.
I cried, “ oh Lord, I did serve thee!”
To my surprise , a deputy came running into the room, saying, “Release this man as early as noon.
Never in a lifetime have we been so wrong.
We are about to execute an innocent man.”
When I heard those words
I didn’t really know what to do.
I just fell on my knees
saying, God, thank you.
All this time, God, I thought that you were dead, but today I can see that you are very much alive.
I’m not only feeling it
but I can see it with my eyes.
Thanks for making me your servant.
Thanks for being more than a good friend, and thanks for delivering me from the hands of these men.
